Thank you, humble site visitors, for caring enough about this site to wonder exactly what is behind the scenes at DustBird's Pictures of People taking Pictures! We're not going to reveal all of our trade secrets, but we will try to answer some of obvious questions you may have. Please keep hands and feet inside the cabin at all times while the train is moving.

Humble Beginnings

Many years ago, the founders of DustBird's Pictures of People taking Pictures were on a vacation of sorts, visiting with the in-laws in Palm Springs, CA. While in town, the group took a tram trip up the side of the San Jacinto Mountains, going from the heat of the desert to snowy alpine conditions in minutes. Good tourists, the founders had cameras in tow.

It was on this fateful trip that the founders captured this (the photo above), the inspirational first PPtP shot. In this picture of innocent desert-dwellers setting up and taking a picture in the snow, the founders realized what fun it could be photographing the picture-taking experience, rather than just the usual travel or party photo.

Months, perhaps years later, as an experiment intended to help the founders learn about web development, this site was born. The mission: Share a small collection of what came to be known as PPtP shots. A natural progression from this initial mission was to collect pictures from site visitors who, over time, have helped grow the original personal collection substantially.
